She’s been wearing it since the 60s…
Fashion is often perceived as a world apart, marked by countless Diktats and a sort of “between oneself” that can set people aside. Age-related laws in particular suggest that older people can no longer be stylish. Because of these sometimes outdated style rules, we imagine that after the age of 60, we no longer have as much clothing freedom as during our younger years. The limits of our body also restrict our trendy desires. Certain items would therefore be prohibited for us to preserve our health, like heeled shoes. In this sense, Doctor Jimmy Mohamed insists that “The worst shoe for the foot is certainly the high heel.”
However, there are still many celebrities in their sixties – or even older – who wear them. Among them, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Camilla Parker-Bowles and Catherine Deneuve. The latter has also found the perfect heeled shoes to combine style, comfort and safety. At 81 years old, the actress likes to wear short but no less glamorous heels by Roger Vivier. The model she puts on her feet? The iconic trotters imagined by the famous French designer, in their revisited version. Thick and stocky, their heels originally peak at 3.5 centimeters – the perfect height to avoid the harm of traditional high shoes.
They totally respect the dimensions mentioned by Jimmy Mohamed, who explained on the airwaves of RTL that “the heel should not exceed 3 to 4 centimeters maximum”so that the weight of the body continues to rest on the back of the foot rather than the front. The current iteration, renamed Belle Vivierdisplays 4.5 centimeters.
Born in the 60s at the request ofYves Saint Laurent to accompany her Mondrian dress, these shoes gained popularity some time later, when Jackie Kennedy was seen in the street with the famous model on her feet.
As for Catherine Deneuve, she has sworn loyalty to him since the film Beautiful day released in 1967. Nearly half a century later, the icon of French cinema continues to wear it at the most exclusive events on the planet, such as the last Paris Fashion Week – proof of its undeniable comfort and irrefutable timelessness.
