You may not have realized it but the General Directorate of Public Finances (DGFiP) has set up a double authentication since June 2025 to secure access to your Public Finance space. In a context of increasing risks (false emails, fraudulent calls, etc.), it reinforces the security of your personal and tax data.
How does it work? After entering the tax number and the associated password, you will receive a security code by email which must be entered on the authentication screen to be able to access your account. For single use, it can be requested again if it has not arrived in your mailbox.
When you make this doubly secure connection, the administration has quietly introduced a cookie in the browser which allows you to identify your device (computer, mobile phone, etc.) as being trusted. Which means that you can connect to this device, via the same browser, for 6 months without repeating this double authentication operation. There are no specific steps to activate for it to be operational, you just need to accept cookies when making your tax return.
Same device and same browser
But be careful, there are some exceptions to the rule. If you use another device, you connect to your particular impots.gouv.fr space from another web browser or if you delete the cookies from the web browser that you used for your connection, you will be required to re-enter another code, received by email.
