Sophie Davant was not predestined for TV: “My destiny took a different direction”
In a long interview published on her YouTube channel, the one who has since left France Télévisions and became a content creator on social networks, returned to the choices which led her to presenting shows. After language school in Bordeaux and journalism studies in her hometown, Sophie Davant dreamed of being a reporter rather than a weather presenter. “There is a course that I did not take due to a combination of circumstances even though I trained as a journalist”she first said on camera. Before continuing: “I originally went to journalism school. And I was placed on an internship at Antenne 2 at the time, in the Antenne 2 editorial department. So I did the reports for the newspaper”.
“And finally, I would have liked to be a journalist, a major reporter, that’s what I had planned”even conceded the one who officiates today on the airwaves ofEurope 1. “And then, my destiny took a different turn because I applied for the weather casting. I went to take it, and to my great surprise, I was chosen”she added.
Sophie Davant: what pushed her to choose television
The former France Télévisions presenter, now aged 63, and who today shares her life with William Leymergie, then detailed her rather pragmatic choices: “It totally disrupted the plans I had made in my head because presenting the weather allowed me to have a regular income, whereas before I was a freelancer, and I did freelance reporting. So financially, I couldn’t afford to get an apartment in Paris”.
“And then, it also allowed me to be a little sedentary for years, and particularly when I had my children. Because if I had been a major reporter, it would have been complicated to have children (…) It would have been difficult for me”finally concluded the mother of Nicolas, 32 years old, and Valentine, 30 years old. When reason wins!
