Clémentine Célarié, who we will soon find on TF1 in “Le Diplôme”, had to relive her traumas for the needs of the series…

Clémentine Célarié, who is the star of the new TF1 mini series, The Diplomabroadcast from January 12, plays the role of a woman who is the victim of physical violence from her husband. A situation which sadly echoes her experience, since the actress has already been a victim of domestic violence in her private life.

Clémentine Célarié upset by the filming: “I had completely locked out…“

The actress, now 68, revealed that she had been the victim of violence at the hands of former partners. She was therefore, unfortunately, able to easily identify with the role of Delphine, in the fiction The Diplomadirected by Fanny Riedberger. “I had completely locked this violence in a corner of my head. When I saw Alive(s)the extraordinary documentary by Claire Lajeunie (a documentary in which victims of violence speak out, editor’s note), everything went back up like a cannonball. Fanny offered me this role right after, it was crazy“, she confided in 7 Days TV.

Clémentine Célarié also found Charles Berling, who plays Delphine’s violent husband in the series, “exceptional“in his acting.”I want to point this out, because if he hadn’t been so generous in his game, it wouldn’t have worked. We really needed an actor who dared to become a monster“, she declared, before specifying that it remained very “attentive“to the well-being of the actress during filming:”During the scenes of violence, he was very sad, very embarrassed to do that (…) He never hurt me, obviously.”

Clémentine Célarié: “We tell ourselves that we are worthless, responsible…“

The actress, for her part, refused to be “doubled“despite the difficult scenes she had to play and the rekindled traumas:”I also discovered during this shoot that the body has a memory, which is incredible.“. The native of Dakar, Senegal, wanted to be as fair as possible in her acting: “It was important for me to revisit this through fiction, out of respect for all the women who experience it and who do not dare to talk about it. It was a kind of catharsis.“

If Clémentine Célarié, mother of three children, experienced this hell ago “a long time“, She “did not speak about it at the time of the events“, like many victims: “Firstly because we tell ourselves that it has no interest, that we are worthless, responsible. We are ashamed (…) And then, we believe that we will treat it and that it will change“. Today, she has emerged from this spiral and is now in a relationship with a man 17 years younger than her, if we are to believe her confidences in Ladies last June.
