Lidl products at discounted prices all year round are the new concept of the supermarket brand, which has decided to launch into the clearance market. Here are the good deals that can be found in these unique stores.
It was already the cheapest supermarket in France, but it hits even harder on the low price scale. This year, according to UFC-Que Choisir, Lidl has emerged as the hard discount champion, ahead of its competitors E.Leclerc and Aldi. For food, but also for hygiene products, or even for household appliances and DIY, the German brand seems unbeatable and therefore remains, logically, very popular with consumers. And you may not know it, but Lidl recently decided to launch a new type of store… even cheaper.
This will delight all bargain hunters: in these “outlet” establishments, different from the usual Lidl, the brand’s products are offered at knockdown prices. With offers between 30% and 60% off all year round, these clearance supermarkets aim to “give a second life to unsold items” of its classic stores. There, no food products: here’s what you can find in the new Lidl Outlets.
For health reasons, it is impossible to sell unsold food items. However, five categories of items will be available in these points of sale: fashion and beauty products, but also home and decoration, sport and leisure, tools and garden, and finally a “seasonal theme”. Corners will also be dedicated to Lidl brands, such as Silvercrest for household appliances, Parkside for DIY, Crivit for sports equipment, or Lupilu for toys and products intended for children. From a simple shower gel to an airfryer, including drills and even toys… There is a wide selection of good deals. Clearance required, quantities are limited, but the choice is renewed regularly.
The Lidl Outlets are currently in the testing phase: there are already three in France. Two opened in June in Île-de-France (one in Saint-Pierre-du-Perray, in Essonne and one in Buchelay, in Yvelines), while a third has just been established in La Ciotat, in Bouches-du-Rhône, since December 11. According to LSA Conso, around ten other stores should open soon, but we still don’t know where.
With this new concept, Lidl seeks in particular to compete with Action in the area of mini prices. A favorite brand of the French for three years now, the Dutch discounter has 800 establishments in France. Although Lidl will struggle to match this figure, its clearance stores nevertheless respond to growing consumer demand for accessible and regular good deals. Because the success is there: nearly 1,000 customers have visited the points of sale in Île-de-France every day since they opened.
