It’s in the show Nice Gesturehosted by Pierre Lescure on France 2, that the actress, now 76 years old, confided about her beginnings before setting foot in the cinema. “I have always earned my living”she proudly proclaimed. And the star of Eight Women to add: “I always did odd jobs to survive (…) I worked at the BBC, you know, I was serving…”
Then the one who is the mother of three children – Lumir, Joséphine and Baladine, girls born from three different romantic idylls – to specify: “There’s a law in England where you can’t work for more than three hours at a time without stopping. And so, there’s a girl walking down the corridors with ‘Tea Time’, ‘Coffee Time’. That was me!” A job that is rather unknown in France, and which in no way brings her closer to the world she has been in for decades. “That’s why I always thought that we were never identified with our function”concluded Fanny Ardant, definitely full of surprise.
Fanny Ardant and retirement: ready to work for a long time?
If Fanny Ardant has been practicing her profession as an actress since the mid-1970s, there is no question of her hanging up too quickly. The star of the films Soft pedal And The Belle Epoque has already mentioned retirement. A word often banned among movie stars…”Getting old doesn’t scare me. I don’t know the word ‘retirement’ either. When we always have projects, when we remain passionate, we do not fall into the bitterness of age“, she confided to Telepro.
Furthermore, if she were to one day abandon her profession as an actress, Fanny Ardant would not want to twiddle her thumbs. “In the depths of Sicily, I will open a hairdressing salon and I will see the whole village parade, with the mafiosi“, she also declared in the pages of Paris Match.
