It is common to recover the attic to gain height, but more rare to dig the ground. And yet, this is the excellent idea that Camille Hermand had to transform a basement into a very pleasant garden level. As a bonus, the entire framework was taken over. This house is now in excellent condition and bathed in light. Cannon!

This couple with two young children already lived in Meudon. He was looking for a larger surface area and a property to renovate. This house on three levels of 130 m² corresponded in every way to their specifications. As the land is sloping, the basement part has low ceilings, not open to the outside and very humid. The property is actually on the hillside. Another surprise: this building had been entirely built by the father of the former owner with recycled materials, not necessarily of good quality. “In the wooden beams, for example, I never had the same thing twice”tells us the architect Camille Hermand. Everything had to be redone and a vast project began.

Create a garden level by digging the earth and redistributing the pieces for greater consistency
To restore the house, make it more pleasant and make the most of the garden, major work was carried out on the frame and the foundations. “There is an underpinning. We dug under the walls to bring the basement level down. We made large openings and large repairs everywhere”confirms the architect. This paid off, because each floor gained more light. The space has been better redefined too. The garden level has become a beautiful spacious parental space with bedroom, laundry room, bathroom and TV lounge. The ground floor is the living space with an opening to the veranda, a breathing kitchen and an office. The first floor is dedicated to children with their two bedrooms, plus another for possible guests and a bathroom. The whole has been tastefully decorated and punctuated with details which add to the charm of this beautiful family home.
