Prices jumped at the start of the year. Since then, the tobacco market has remained stable in August 2026. Here are the prices of the most sold packs in France.
In accordance with the official Customs tax calendar, no new order approving tobacco prices comes into force on August 1, 2026. The last revision dates back to June 1, 2026 and the next one is set for September 1, 2026 (following a publication scheduled for August 21, 2026). Prices therefore remain strictly unchanged compared to July 2026. The vast majority of prices for cigarettes and hand-rolling tobacco remain unchanged compared to the first quarter revisions. Only very rare margin adjustments have been decided by a few manufacturers (rare targeted increases or decreases of around 10 to 30 cents on niche references). For your information, a packet cost around 3 euros in the year 2000.

Here are the prices of cigarettes by brand in 2026
Prices now range mainly between €11.50 and €14.10. These are tobacco manufacturers (tobacco companies) who set the selling prices of their packages taking into account changes in taxes levied by the state (which represent around 80% of the price of a pack of cigarettes). They can pass on the increase in these taxes, which increases the price of the package, or reduce their margins in order to gain market share, which causes the selling price to stagnate or fall. The prices are then approved jointly by the Ministry of Solidarity and Health and the Ministry of Action and Public Accounts.
