In our memorial services we remember the sacrifice of those who died and fought to give us the freedom and well-being we enjoy today. But for which new generations, given the drama demographic decline? Those sacrifices Were they in vain? No, why those values are universal and for all peoples. And it makes sense to remember them because, otherwise, that treasure of values would be lost. Not only for our now too few children, but also for the children of other cultures who reach us from outside.

I agree with you. Remembering the fallen of the last war it does not serve to celebrate the past, but above all it serves thequestion the present, in a historical moment in which those values are seriously questioned. Those broken lives remind us that freedom and democracy always arise from difficult personal choices and dramatic crossroads. Not by automation.
