The Strait of Hormuz closes. Iran denounces the violation of one of the fundamental points of the memorandum signed by Washington and Tehran, that of the end of the conflict in Lebanon, and is once again preventing the passage of ships. Israel, in fact, despite American pressure, not only does not want to withdraw its troops from territories that do not belong to it, but continues to bomb and destroy. On the other hand the minister himself Ben Gvir had explicitly said that “the whole of Lebanon must burn” and that, “for every tear of an Israeli woman, a thousand Lebanese women must cry.” In fact, carnage. And so, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declares that “at most a truce can be granted”, the civilian deaths, according to Lebanese government data, exceed four thousand people. President Trump is quick to call Lebanon’s Aoun, but the situation does not seem to be improving.
Meanwhile, Italian aid is arriving to bring relief to the civilian population. Embarked on 21 June at the military airport of Pratica di Mare, thanks to a joint humanitarian mission between the Joint Forces Operational Command and the National Confederation of the Misericordie of Italyfifty-five drugs destined for the most vulnerable populations in Lebanon landed in Beirut. «The operation», the organizers say, «starts from a request from the Lebanese Caritas, through the Apostolic Nunciature in Beirut, to the National Confederation of Italian Mercy». To take up the appeal Bruno Farmaceutici SpA. of Rome, which donated anti-inflammatory, painkillers, anti-allergic drugs and other products intended for the healthcare of the most vulnerable people. All the material, through the Italian contingent engaged in the Italian Bilateral Military Mission in Lebanon (Minil), is delivered to Caritas and the Lebanese National Association of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta who take care of the distribution.
«This mission», declared the president of the Misericordie, Domenico Giani, «demonstrates how solidarity can be transformed into concrete help when institutions, volunteers and the business world choose to work together for the common good».
The Operational Commander of the Joint Forces Summit, Army Corps General Giovanni Maria Iannucci, for his part, added that «the presence of the Defense in Lebanon, with UNIFIL, MIBIL and MTC4L, allows us to contribute to the security and stability of the areawhile at the same time supporting initiatives like this, providing logistical and organizational skills and consolidated knowledge of the local context. The added value of Defense is precisely this: being present on the ground, working together with local institutions, international partners and civil society, to respond to the needs of communities and contribute to creating conditions of lasting stability”.
