It is precisely in these moments that the subtitles become essential. Across the Atlantic, 55 % of Americans are used to looking at subtitled content, Netflix said in a press release. Starting from this observation, the American company has decided to improve the viewing experience for all its subscribers. For this, since April 24, 2025, a new option is available on the streaming platform. Now users will be able to activate or not “The subtitles in the original language, which only show the dialogues”, explains Netflix.
A novelty that changes the situation. Previously, “For subtitles in the original language, it was necessary to activate the suborders for deaf and hard of hearing (SDH/CC), which include not only dialogues, but also audio signals such as (telephone buzz) or (dramatic music), as well as the names of the speakers.” It is now much simpler. When you open the “Audio” and “Subtitles” tab, you now have the choice between two options: “English” for dialogues and “English (CC)” for dialogues and audio signals.
Rest assured, these options are not only in English, they are in all languages, in addition to the SDH/CC subtitles.
