Philippe Lacheau, who had a complicated youth, has changed since he became the father of a little boy with his partner Elodie Fontan. The 45-year-old actor and director confided that he had a big regret…
Philippe Lacheau has taken revenge on life. Today, his films are a hit, notably his latest feature film The Marsupilami which had a good start at the box office on February 4, and its career is prolific. However, being younger, he was not necessarily destined for such success. Now a father, he nevertheless has some regrets about the past…
Philippe Lacheau, “transparent”: “I wasn’t popular…”
In most of the films that Philippe Lacheau has directed, it is a question of “revenge of a nice loser” as noted 7 Days TV. Patterns that echo the past of the actor born in Fontenay-Sous-Bois, in Val-de-Marne. “It’s a bit autobiographical. When I was young, I was not at all popular with girls, I lacked self-confidence. I had cinema dreams in my head and I was transparent in class“, admitted the actor, now very popular with the French.
“Every film you make is a little bit like you. In Babysittingmy character gets ‘bolosed’ by everyone and, through particular paths, will reach his dreams“, he added before specifying that his latest film also referred to a new aspect of his life: “With Marsupilami, if I mention the theme of fatherhood, it’s because I became a dad“. The actor is in fact the father of a little 6-year-old boy, named Raphaël, and born from the couple he forms with his partner, the actress Elodie Fontan.
Philippe Lacheau, changed since becoming a father: “It was sometimes rude…”
“Becoming a father has made me evolve. This is the first time I’ve dealt with the subject of fatherhood.“, he also clarified to Gala. Philippe Lacheau believes he has acquired a real maturity which allows him to approach his films in a different way. So much so that he regrets certain decisions of the past: “I rewatched Babysitting recently and I found that it was sometimes crude and not much. While preparing The Marsupilami, I imagined seeing the film alongside my son without being bothered by certain jokes“.
The one who has formed a group of actor friends who appear in most of his films, nicknamed “the Fifi gang”, also plays regularly with Elodie Fontan, with whom he has been in a civil partnership since 2020. But does this proximity really facilitate collaboration in the cinema? “As I know her very well, I save a lot of time. I tell her things more, without trying to beat around the bush to spare her“.
