A few hours before the ceremony, a bride discovered that her dress was completely ruined following a simple careless mistake. The kind of detail that can happen to anyone.

A wedding day often starts very early. Between preparations, hair and makeup appointments, final logistical adjustments and the gradual arrival of loved ones, the morning flies by. Brides especially hope to avoid the unexpected, because the slightest complication can quickly become a headache. However, even with organization and an experienced team, a simple mistake can be enough to turn the excitement of the moment into a real nightmare.

That’s precisely what happened at a wedding attended by Colleen Conroy, a makeup artist for over twenty years. Accustomed to dealing with the unforeseen events of the big day, she says she witnessed a situation that was, to say the least, unexpected during the preparations for a bride. In a video, the professional presented a visibly burned wedding dress.

In her message, Colleen Conroy explains that the dress, a piece of lace carefully protected in a cover, had been hung in the bedroom where the bride was getting ready. The place seemed safe and convenient to keep her handy during preparations. But when the time came to put it on, the surprise was immediate: the bottom of the fabric had several very visible burn marks. “Unfortunately there was a radiator where the dress was hanging,” she confided. “The heat from the radiator passed through the cover and directly hit the wedding dress.”

Fortunately, a seamstress was among the guests and was able to save the dress. Colleen Conroy says in the caption of her publication: “A family friend (who had hand-sewn a bridesmaid dress for her at their own wedding) quickly stepped in to make alterations by cutting out and sewing up the burn marks. It was as good as new.”

Several Internet users also took advantage of this Instagram publication to share their tips for saving a dress in an emergency. For example, some recommend using white chalk to reduce stains or marks, while others advise planning in advance some decorative elements (butterflies, flowers or bows) that can be quickly sewn onto the dress in the event of a problem. In any case, the episode serves as a reminder to professionals and future brides alike: on the morning of a wedding, every detail counts, including where you choose to hang your dress.
