They may be small, but insects can quickly disturb our cherished peace and quiet once they pass through the door or windows of our homes. But thanks to this natural insect repellent, you will now have something to repel them.

This is the great paradox of the beautiful season. We dream of opening the windows wide to let in the freshness of the morning, reading a book quietly on the sofa, or enjoying a restful sleep. But this is often the moment chosen by a whole armada of small winged or crawling squatters to invite themselves into our home. Between the mosquitoes that turn our nights into nightmares, the annoying flies and the moths that eye our summer wardrobes, cohabitation quickly becomes electric.

Rather than using chemical sprays that sting the eyes and pollute indoor air, the trend is towards natural solutions. You have probably already tried lemongrass – sometimes timidly effective – or white vinegar and its, let’s say… overpowering, smell. While there is a much more elegant and formidable secret, a true olfactory treasure that insects absolutely cannot contain.

For us, it’s pure joy: a woody, warm, deeply comforting fragrance. For pests, on the other hand, it is an immediate expulsion message. This magical repellent is cedar wood.

Typical of the Moroccan Atlas where it grows majestically, this precious wood has exceptional natural properties thanks to its aromatic essential oils. No need to travel though! It is very easy to find in France. To adopt it with style, you will find it in several very accessible forms: in small blocks or rings of raw wood to hang in your wardrobes, in shavings to slip into linen bags, or quite simply in the form of essential oil to diffuse.

Once installed, cedar works miracles. It is the sworn enemy of clothing and food moths, which it radically neutralizes. Mosquitoes, flies and even ants turn back as soon as they come across its scent. The little decorative bonus? When the smell begins to fade after a few months, simply rub the wood lightly with a piece of sandpaper to reactivate its powers. Practical, ecological and terribly aesthetic, right?
