To preserve your plancha and succeed in all your grilling, regular cleaning – ideally after each use – is essential. Rest assured: whether your plate is cold or very dirty, a few simple actions are enough. Discover our step-by-step method.
While it is best to clean your plancha hot, don’t panic if it has already cooled down: cold cleaning works very well too. White vinegar, bicarbonate, hot water or even… ice cubes (yes, yes!): discover our natural tips to make your plate shine and make it last.
To clean a hot plancha, the natural and very effective product is white vinegar! If the plate has had time to cool, turn it back on to cool it down a little and start cleaning.
- While the plate is still hot, pour lukewarm water and white vinegar onto its surface,
- Then scrape off the residue using a spatula or stainless steel brush.
- Then pass with absorbent paper to eliminate the last cooking juices and resistant fats.
If you don’t have white vinegar, you can also clean your plancha with ice cubes. The thermal shock will allow impurities to be removed very easily and without damaging your device. The procedure to follow:
- Place the ice cubes on the still hot plate,
- Then scrape off the residue with‘help‘a spatula,
- Dry the surface… Done!
Couldn’t do a hot clean? Don’t panic, cold cleaning is entirely possible to restore the shine to your plancha. To begin, check that the water tap‘gas inlet is properly closed or that the appliance is unplugged in the case of an electric model. Pour a few drops of dishwashing liquid and lukewarm water onto the hob. Then scrape off the dirt with a stainless steel spatula. Dry the surface and that’s it!
How to clean a very dirty plancha? If your plancha is particularly dirty, you can use baking soda to clean it cold. Pour a little‘hot water on the plate, with two tablespoons of baking soda added. Leave on for 10 minutes, then scrub with an abrasive sponge. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
Before storing your plancha at the end of the season, clean it thoroughly. Avoid‘use of aggressive products such as bleach or abrasive degreasers such as stripping‘oven: harmful to health, they could damage your appliance. Instead, clean the hob, burners, trolley and all accessories using dishwashing liquid and a damp sponge before drying them thoroughly. Finally, store your plancha in a dry place and protected from the cold (garage, garden shed, etc.).
