The seventh season of Illuminatea docu-series produced by Anele in collaboration with Rai Cultura, returns to Rai3 from Sunday 8 March in the late evening with four episodes dedicated to as many protagonists of the Italian twentieth century: Tina Lagostena Bassi, Eleonora Giorgi, Lea Pericoli and Rosita Missoni. Four stories different in scope and path, but united by a common trait: that of women who, with their talent and determination, have left a profound mark on the cultural and civil history of the country.

Illuminate it narrates exemplary female figures through the gaze of great contemporary actresses, creating an ideal dialogue between generations. This season the story is led by Cristiana Capotondi, Ornella Muti, Sveva Alviti and Greta Ferro, who accompany the public into the lives of the protagonists by intertwining cinematic narration, archive materials and direct testimonies. The result is a choral story that traces the choices, sacrifices and achievements of women who have opened new paths in their respective fields.

Cristiana Capotondi interprets and tells Tina Lagostena Bassi, the “women’s lawyer”, a pioneer in the defense of women’s rights in Italy. The docu-film retraces some of the most significant battles of his career, from the defense of Donatella Colasanti after the Circeo massacre to his contribution to the law against sexual violence, passing through the television experience of Trial for Rape. A portrait that shows the civil strength and fundamental role of Lagostena Bassi in the conquest of new protections for women.

The last episode sees Greta Ferro on the trail of Rosita Missoniprotagonist of Italian fashion and design in the world. Welcomed into the historic house-atelier of Sumirago, the actress reconstructs the history of the designer and the family business, exploring not only her international success, but also the private and creative dimension that has fueled the unmistakable style of the brand over time.

Through testimonies of family members, friends and protagonists of different sectors – from law to cinema, from sport to fashion – the series reconstructs the portrait of four women who have contributed to transforming their field of activity. With this seventh season, “Illuminate” confirms its vocation: to tell the story of the talent and courage of Italian female figures who, with passion and determination, have opened up new perspectives and continue to be a model for today’s generations.
