It’s not the laundry and it’s not the machine either… The real problem comes from a forgotten action before washing when it only takes 5 seconds.

The porthole locks and the die is already cast. We walk away thinking that everything is under control, without realizing that each turn of the drum acts like sandpaper on the most fragile fibers. It is a silent, almost imperceptible aggression, which is only revealed when the sweaters are taken out of the drum. We then discover with disappointment a material which has lost its soul and the shine of the new which has vanished in just a few minutes. We end up believing in an inevitability, without knowing that the sabotage began well before the first drop of water.

Behind the window of the machine, the tumult leaves no chance for gentleness. In this closed space, the harshest reliefs scratch and cling to the smooth surfaces, creating erosion every second. We imagine a cocoon, we reap a confrontation. What is exposed suffers the most brutal shocks, without any defense against repeated assaults. Disaster sets in, turn after turn, simply because we have chosen to expose the most fragile part to the violence of contact.

However, we notice that some people keep their things impeccable for years. Their habit is not due to a product, but to a change of direction before each departure. They consider that the visible side of the sweaters is too precious to be exposed directly to the tumult. By protecting this part, they ensure that the friction only marks the reverse side, this area that no one ever sees. It is this small offset that allows you to find the same softness once the movement is finished, by simply letting the inside take the blows instead of the spot.

It all comes down to this shift: turning the object over so that the other side absorbs the violence of the cycle. This is the only way to break the face-to-face contact between the drum and the surface you want to protect. By placing the seams and the raw face in the first line, we ensure that friction only marks the invisible.

When you reopen the window, the contrast is striking. The shine is intact and the texture has lost none of its strength, simply because you took the trouble to adopt a good routine before starting your washing machine.
