While you use them every day, your cleaning wipes have an unfortunate tendency to dry out… Here is the ultimate tip to ensure that they retain their moisture and therefore their effectiveness over time.
THE cleaning wipes are very practical for cleaning in one go and in no time. But to be fully effective, they must remain moist even after opening the package. To avoid ending up with dried out wipes that you will no longer be able to use, we give you some tips.
Over time and by opening or closing the tab on the pack of wipes, the closure system may become less airtight. And, as a result, it often happens that your cleaning wipes are all dry. The problem is that once household wipes lose their moisture, they become less effective for several reasons. As their effectiveness relies on the impregnated solution, which contains the cleaning, disinfectant or degreasing agents, when it dries, the wipe no longer has these products to act as it should on the surfaces. Also, moisture helps the wipes capture and retain dust, residue and germs. Dried, they lose this ability and can even repel dirt instead of eliminating it. Finally, a dry wipe becomes stiff or rough, making it less practical for cleaning effectively, especially on delicate or irregular surfaces. In short, without their impregnated solution, the wipes lose their cleaning and/or disinfecting power, which significantly limits their usefulness.
To avoid this, you can obviously ensure that you close the package securely after each use by folding the tab correctly once you have taken a wipe from the package and pressing firmly on the entire surface of the label in order to obtain a good closure and effective protection of the wipes. But another very effective tip that we think about much less exists and it consists of always storing your pack of wipes upside down, so that the opening is underneath. For what ? Because the wipes at the bottom are always more soaked than those at the top. So, by putting the package upside down, the liquid will impregnate the wipes on top which dry out more quickly, which will allow you to keep wet wipes in the entire package.
Also, you can place your package in an airtight box or simply slip it into a zip-lock freezer bag. Also remember to choose packaging adapted to your needs. If you use wipes for daily cleaning, a well-stocked pack of 72 wipes on average is ideal, but if you only use wipes occasionally, choose a smaller pack of 30 or less. They will be finished before they start to dry out, provided you follow the recommendations above.
