A new generation radar has appeared on the roads of France, with a particularity that traps all drivers.
Radars are multiplying on French roads. Installed to limit the speed of motorists and drastically reduce the risk of accidents, these devices play a central role in road safety policy. Over the years, they have become more and more sophisticated. No more simple, easily identifiable fixed cabins: the new equipment incorporates advanced technologies which make their detection much more difficult. For drivers, it therefore becomes complicated to anticipate their presence and avoid sanctions.
In fact, a new radar is currently being tested in Lyon, in the Presqu’île sector. Positioned on a busy route, this latest generation device does not just monitor speed. It can fine violations without drivers immediately noticing them. Enough to surprise inattentive and even the most cautious motorists, especially since this radar operates in a particularly discreet manner.
Its specificity? It has an “infrared flash invisible to the naked eye”, state services specify. Unlike older models, there is no flash of light to signal the shot. Another notable feature: it “simultaneously detects speeding and running red lights.” Clearly, the same device can penalize several types of offenses in a single installation, which considerably increases its effectiveness.
It should be remembered that excessive speeding is now considered an offence. They are liable to a fine of up to 1,500 euros, a withdrawal of 6 points on the driving license and a suspension of the license. Running a red light also exposes you to heavy penalties: 135 euros fixed fine and a deduction of 4 points. With these new, more efficient radars, vigilance while driving remains more essential than ever.
