Do you open your wardrobe, look at your clothes and can’t find your look for the day? A fashion content creator says the problem isn’t with the wardrobe itself, but with how you choose your outfit.
Sometimes it only takes five minutes to turn a room into a disaster zone. Jeans end up on a chair, a sweater on the bed, a shirt goes back into the wardrobe and, at the end of the day, we put on the same outfit as the day before or almost. The same sentence is then repeated: “I have nothing to wear“However, when you look closer, most wardrobes are already overflowing with clothes. Between impulse purchases, pieces that we keep “just in case” and basics accumulated over the years, the problem is rarely a lack of choice. It is often even the opposite.
On social networks, fashion advice on how to dress better without buying more is becoming increasingly popular. In a context where prices are increasing and many are seeking to consume more responsibly, the idea of making money from what we already have is very appealing. Videos dedicated to dressing room organization, color combinations or minimalist wardrobes have millions of views. But despite this avalanche of tips, many continue to get stuck in front of their clothes every morning.
Content creator Sarra, known on TikTok as @roseandmusc, says the problem is that you don’t know where to start when you look at your wardrobe. “And for that I have a tip”she explains. In fact, you only need to buy a new item of clothing to approve his method. After purchasing a new part, ideas flow. We can easily imagine several outfits, several combinations, several occasions to wear it. Then a few weeks later, the inspiration fades and the hesitations return.
So the idea is to focus on just one item of clothing. “You just have to choose a piece, a piece that you want to wear. And then you build your outfit around that piece,” confides Sarra. This piece can be a pair of jeans you love, a pair of sneakers, a blazer, a skirt or even a simple white T-shirt. Once this choice is made, the rest follows much more easily. You adapt the textures, colors and volumes and, very quickly, that’s it.
Note that when no idea comes up despite everything, she recommends another option: opt for a monochrome outfit: “Another tip, if you don’t know what to wear, a monochrome look always goes well, it always has a little effect.” During the filming of her video, she opted for a khaki bomber jacket as well as matching cargo pants and the result immediately won over her subscribers. Inspiring.
