In 2026, one detail is enough to modernize a silhouette without going shopping. No need to buy, just adjust.

The way we dress is changing. Trends still circulate as quickly as ever, but the desire to systematically buy the latest piece is slowing down. Instead, another logic imposes itself: adjust, divert, reposition. Social media is full of videos that show how to modify jeans, structure a shirt or transform the look of a sweater simply by changing the way you wear it. And a very specific gesture could well be enough to renew your entire wardrobe.

For several months, the silhouettes highlighted on the catwalks and in the streets have displayed a clearer line at the level of the upper body. The head posture is more assertive, the frame around the face more marked. This orientation does not only depend on the cut of a garment, but on the way in which it is positioned. By playing on a simple detail, a sweater appears sharper, a jacket more contemporary, a coat more in line with the dominant aesthetic of 2026. The effect is immediate: the silhouette gains verticality and presence.

This is what user @sarah.shanika shows in a TikTok video. Specializing in fashion, she shares a simple tip to apply to pieces that most people already own. She explains: “We know, coats with high collars are super trendy at the moment, but spoiler, you don’t need to spend a fortune to buy new ones. You just need to raise the collar of the coats and jackets you already have.” If the quote explicitly mentions coats and jackets, the logic can extend to other garments with a structured collar.

A poplin shirt gains character, a polo shirt appears more fashionable, a zipped sweatshirt becomes more assertive, a classic trench coat takes on a more contemporary look. Even a simple stiff-necked t-shirt can change size if you rework this strategic area.

What’s more, this little twist will also allow you to slip your hair inside for an “Olsen tuck” as they say in the jargon. The idea being to echo the minimalist silhouettes popularized by the Olsen sisters. The result gives the impression of a thoughtful, current look, without any purchase being necessary. Clever, right?
