This year, the nominees will, for example, be able to enjoy stays in prestigious villas, fly to a wellness retreat in Sri Lanka, or even taste treats covered with edible gold crystals. The agency also included very high-end products formulated with cannabis, but also skincare products and other various goodies. But amidst this debauchery of luxury, one gift stands out, casting a veil of pragmatism over Hollywood glamour.
No more fairy tales, make way for the cold reality: this strange gift is none other than a marriage contract, or prenuptial agreement as it is generally called in the United States. This is not a simple standard document but rather a contract personalized, tailor-made by a lawyer specializing in celebrity divorces. Timothée Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Hudson, Emma Stone, Jacob Elordi, Sean Penn, or even Elle Fanning… Each star nominated for the Oscars can use this paper to protect their assets if necessary.
A cynical way, to say the least, of anticipating the romantic future of the stars. In Hollywood, where express marriages and highly publicized (and often very expensive) separations are commonplace, this legal document ultimately appears to be essential. The organizers obviously judged that behind the facade smiles, love in Los Angeles required a solid safety net.
If the initiative can make the future bride and groom smile – or cringe – it fits perfectly into the tradition of these gift bags which each year seek to create a buzz with their extravagance. After offering liposuction last year, the agency proves once again that it has no taboos. Whether the stars walk away with the Oscar or not, they will at least have something to protect their fortune in the event of a marital storm.
