Every year, thousands of travelers miss out on this SNCF reduction without knowing it. However, it allows you to pay for your round trip by train at up to half price, under certain conditions.
If you take the train for your vacation, you may be paying a lot less without knowing it. The SNCF offers a system called “annual leave ticket” which allows you to obtain at least 25% reduction on a round trip of at least 200 kilometers, and up to 50% if you are traveling with a loved one. The offer operates on TGV Inoui, Intercités and TER, in 2nd class, and is accessible to a wide audience, without income conditions. Here’s how to take advantage of it and what steps to follow.
What are the conditions for obtaining an SNCF annual leave ticket?
The SNCF annual leave ticket offers the possibility, once a year and per individual, to benefit from a minimum reduction of 25% on a round trip by train covering at least 200 kilometers. The journey must be completed within 61 days following the date of departure for the outward journey. If you are traveling with a loved one, the reduction amounts to 50%, as this discount is also applicable to the person traveling with you, provided that they are a member of your family.
Who can benefit from the annual leave ticket?
The SNCL system is aimed at many categories of people without an income criterion being required:
- The employees
- Employees on early termination of activity
- Vocational training trainees
- Home workers
- The artisans
- Farmers
- Job seekers
- Pensioners
- Pre-retirees and retirees
- The beneficiaries
- War orphans and widows
Concerning the accompanying persons who can take advantage of the offer, it may be your partner (married, civil partnership or cohabiting), your unmarried children under 21 years of age and in your care (no age limit for children with disabilities), or even your parents living under your roof.
To benefit from the SNCF annual leave ticket, you can request it online or via an approved travel agency. Online, you must download and complete the specific “annual leave ticket” form. On this document, indicate the details of your trip: itineraries, departure and arrival stations, as well as the names of accompanying persons, if you have any. It must also include the signature or stamp of your employer, or of the organization authorized to certify your status.
“If the applicant cannot submit the duly stamped form, he must provide a sworn declaration that he is in one of the above-mentioned cases and that he can benefit from the annual leave rate”indicates the end path company. Once completed, upload your form to the SNCF’s ALLOUI chatbot. Select “purchase an Annual Leave ticket”, then “request an annual leave ticket”. Add a scanned version of your form. Once you receive the deposit confirmation by email, contact an advisor on 36 35 (free service, cost of a call, available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) to finalize your ticket reservation and take advantage of the reduction.
