Tahar Rahim and Leïla Bekhti form one of the most glamorous couples in French cinema. And yet, they are both extremely discreet about their private lives. Since their meeting in 2007, on the set of the film A prophetand their marriage in 2010, the lovebirds almost never appear together. But the 44-year-old actor agreed to make rare confidences about their relationship with TVMagazine.

The actor, who is appearing in Prisonera mini-series from Canal + available from July 13, could not be more fulfilled by his personal life: he has been living a beautiful love story with Leïla Bekhti for almost 20 years, and if their relationship is so simple, it is partly because they work in the same profession and can thus understand their respective lifestyles. “It’s fulfilling, but above all because he’s the best person I know“, he confided.
But if they share the same profession, it is not at the center of their conversations: “We don’t sit on the couch to talk about our work, but the advantage is that we understand when there are sacrifices to make. We will organize ourselves so that everyone is happy“.

At the start of their relationship, however, their job represented an additional difficulty since they were both often filming and therefore lived a long-distance relationship. “The problem is the time spent without each other, not the trust“, explained Leïla Bekhti to Psychologies in 2015. Since then, the parents of four children, aged 9 to 2, have been able to adapt to this unique lifestyle.
Moreover, the lovebirds do not hesitate to give each other honest feedback on their respective roles. “The hardest person on me in this job is him, so it’s a judgment that scares me, but it scares me whether we’re in Cannes or not, because he can really tell me things…“, she told Canal +.
Sometimes, the 42-year-old actress even dreads the moments when her husband watches a film in which she starred: “If after two minutes, he still sees the woman who shares his life, it’s because I haven’t been confident at all, and he tells me, it’s already happened to him.“
