In a rare interview recently given to Mireille Dumas, the two actresses lift the veil on what they are becoming.
What happens to the unforgettable comics of the Vamps duo? After making us laugh for decades with their characters of old ladies named Lucienne and Gisèle, they confided in Mireille Dumas about their new life on her YouTube channel. Are Nicole Aveard and Dominique de Lacoste, their real names, ready to return to service?
What happens to the Vamps? Children, couple, new job…
If the duo of comedians was a hit and both were able to perform on the big stages of France, they wanted to take a break in 2009 in order to take time for themselves and get away from these characters who “stuck to the skin“.”We played a lot and we had the impression of never taking off the costume“, they explained in this new interview to Mireille Dumas.
In terms of personal life, Nicole Avezard, who plays Lucienne, wanted to have a child. “I couldn’t have one (biologically, editor’s note) so we adopted a child in Latvia, he was two years old. Two years later, we adopted a little girl in Haiti“, detailed the one who is still married today to a certain Stan. “He does sound and light maintenance in shows“, she clarified about him.
At the same time, she also devoted herself to her activity as a painter and even today manages to sell her paintings. “I have lots of exhibitions, I can’t stop (…) For now, I can live on it“, said the woman who now lives in Indre-et-Loire. Just like her former colleague, Dominique de Lacoste also adopted a child: “My son is 23 years old, I had him at 44 when he was 16 months old. This is my little prince Maya, I adopted him in Guatemala“. And if she is now divorced, she assures that she “enjoy life“.
Will the Vamps ever reform?
After their break on stage, the Vamps reformed several times until they decided to give their last show in February 2024, in Caen. “It was my last, I stopped“, assured Nicole Avezard. As for her former sidekick Dominique de Lacoste, she has never lost her love of comedy: “As an actress, I continue to act in plays, when I have the desire and the time, at a rate of 2-3 shows per month“.
She does not yet know if she will one day reprise her role as Gisèle, but she will not perform again in a show with Nicole Avesard, although they continue to rub shoulders in their personal lives: “The circle is closed“.
