It is made of unexpected contrasts Margherita Carducci, alias Ditonellapiaga, Roman, born in 1997, who has chosen a stinging, uncomfortable stage name, which clashes with a very feminine and refined look with a retro taste: side parting, double-layered eyes, bright red lips, exposed legs, which, by her own admission, refers to Amy Winehouse and Adele.
When he made his debut at the Sanremo Festival 2022, competing with Donatella Rettore, only a few knew her. It could have been a meteor, a provocation for that moment, just to create the right one with an irreverent and from that iconic point of view artist like Rector Chemistry which had in fact enthralled the Ariston audience.
And instead Ditonellapiaga moved on: too pop for the underground, too little homologable for the mainstream environments, in short, one out of context, as he declared when presenting his song to the press on the eve of the Festival, IOn April 10th he will release his third album, Miss Italyentirely written by the singer-songwriter together with Alessandro Casagni.
Even the choice to duet with another great provocateur like Tony Pitony he is part of the character, used to shuffling the cards. And in fact we will see it in a swing version of The Lady Is a Trump, in a certain sense in the wake of a similar operation done with the same song by Lady Gaga with Tony Bennett.
And like Lady Gaga, Ditonellapiaga also loves to experiment in different ways: she knows how to dance, she takes care of her voice very carefully (“it’s an instrument, it needs to be trained, and, thanks to my vocal coach Marta Gerbi, I discovered that I can use my voice much better than before”), and we’ll see her in cinemas from March 19th in the film Night before exams 3.0.
