As it was, the property was not very suitable for its new occupants. Empty and partitioned spaces followed one another. Today, a wind of freedom blows through this boldly redesigned Parisian apartment.
Having remained frozen in its walls and past codes for a long time, this apartment in the 19th arrondissement was just waiting to reveal its full potential. With the opening of the spaces as a guideline, Dario Mucedda played the game brilliantly to wake up this sleeping 78 m².
Perched on the 9th floor of a tower from the 70s/80s, the accommodation already had beautiful foundations: large bay windows bathing the rooms in light, an ideal orientation and not overlooked. So many advantages that made it a wise investment. It remained to eliminate the faults: a configuration that was too fragmented, a dated aesthetic and an outdated electrical installation.
The future occupants? A couple of close friends of the architect – one is a communications director in the audiovisual sector, the other a renowned hairdresser – accompanied by their little boy. Dario Mucedda, founder of Cabinet 2D, is not his first attempt with them: after having signed the renovations of their four previous apartments, he knew exactly how to create a place in their image.
The project was launched on solid foundations: total trust, clear desires and affirmed choices. From the massive decompartmentalization between the kitchen and living room to the provision of fluid access to the master bedroom, including the integration of semi-tailor-made storage and decoration with a strong character, every detail has been carefully thought out. Nothing was left to chance.
Initially, the second sleeping area of the apartment was like the rest: cold and devoid of character. Everything had to be done but the base, healthy, allowed one to give free rein to one’s imagination. And ideas, Dario Mucedda’s clients, had thousands of them.
Very gently, it is their little boy’s room which is nestled here. Dressed in enveloping beige tones, it creates a reassuring cocoon. Special mention for the rattan bed, a favorite piece which brings a poetic and timeless touch to the whole.
Result of these three months of work? A breathtaking metamorphosis.
