Moving with three or more children can quickly get expensive. Here are the solutions to benefit from financial assistance from the State.
When the family grows, you often have to push the walls… or change accommodation. Many parents then choose to move to save space. But this change comes at a cost. To help finance it, there is a moving bonuspaid by Caf or MSA, under conditions.
What are the conditions for receiving the moving bonus?
To be able to claim the moving bonus, you must meet several conditions. Starting with the number of dependent children since this aid from Caf is paid to parents with at least three children born or unborn.
If you only have two children, but you are pregnant with your third, you can therefore request one, if your pregnancy is due within 6 months following your move. Therefore, the move must take place between the end of your 3rd month of pregnancy and the day before the 2nd.e birthday of your last child. To benefit from the moving bonus, you must also be eligible for personalized housing assistance (APL) or family housing allowance (ALF) for your new home.
How much is the moving bonus in 2026?
The moving bonus covers the expenses actually incurred when changing accommodation, for example if you have hired a mover. The amount of assistance depends on the number of children in your household. Until March 31, 2027, it is limited to 1147.58 euros if you have three dependent childrenand 95.63 euros per additional child.
What are the steps to take?
To apply for a moving bonus, you can directly do the following: procedures online, on the Caf website or send Cerfa form n°11363*04 request for a moving bonus by mail to your MSA fund, accompanied by proof of expenses incurred. This may include the invoice from the company that carried out the move, or if you transported the boxes yourself, supporting documents relating to the rental of a vehicle, gas or motorway toll costs, etc. Remember that you have a six month deadline to request it !
When is the moving bonus paid?
Once the supporting documents have been sent and your request has been registered, in most cases, the bonus is paid the month following move-in, in one gobut do not hesitate to inquire with your Caf. Also note that if your situation is precarious, you can request an advance upon presentation of a quote.
How many times can you benefit from the moving bonus?
If you have already moved last year for example, you can reapply if you still meet the requirements and if your last child, eligible for the moving bonus, has not exceeded the age of two.
