Tens of thousands of people were unable to reach Piazza Duomo due to this blockade and irresponsible and provocative behavior.”
«April 25th belongs to everyone: to Italy, to Italians and to every person who recognizes themselves in the values of democracy, freedom and peace», was the comment of Maurizio Lupi, of Noi moderato. «It is an anniversary that should unite the country, not divide it. For this reason, the insults directed at the Jewish Brigade are unacceptable attacks against those marching with the Ukrainian flag and even the shooting of two demonstrators with a compressed air pistol. Episodes of this kind have nothing to do with the spirit of Liberation: they are acts of intolerance and violence that must be condemned without ambiguity.”
And the entire parliamentary spectrum condemns the insults and violence.
Tones down Giorgia Meloni who, with unprecedented clarity, writes: «The Italian people remember one of the decisive moments in their history: the end of the Nazi occupation and the defeat of fascist oppression, which had denied Italians freedom and democracy». A completely contrasting message instead comes from Pound House. Luca Marsella, a leading exponent of the right-wing extremist movement, defines April 25 as «an unfortunate day that should be canceled» at the same time praising the remigration of regular migrants as well.
