Bruno Salomone experienced particularly trying times in his battle against cancer. His relatives told on the set of “C à Vous” that he had been admitted to palliative care… before being “fired”.
The death of Bruno Salomone shocked the French. The actor, who died on March 15 at the age of 55 following cancer, had never spoken publicly about his illness. However, he experienced a very trying end of life, according to his loved ones who were able to speak to him during his last moments, including the actor Guillaume de Tonquédec and Thierry Bizot, creator of the series. Bruno Salomone in palliative care: “Generally, we don’t come out of it…”
Bruno Salomone was admitted to palliative care last fall. He received visits from several relatives including Thierry Bizot, co-creator of the series Don’t do this, don’t do thatwho was stunned by his condition. “In palliative care, we generally don’t come out of it. In November, I go there trembling, telling myself that I don’t even know if he will recognize me. And I find him in great shape! We spent two hours laughing, talking…”, he remembered.
The resilience of the actor – and former companion of Julie Gayet – was such that it was “fired from palliative care“.”Because we can’t stay there for more than three weeks! So they put him in new palliative care“, explained Thierry Bizot. And there again, despite the terrible ordeal he was going through, Bruno Salomone did not lose his joy of living: “He suffered, he had a very difficult end of life, but he never made anyone feel like he was struggling. He was light, funny, enjoying life… It was incredible“.
Bruno Salomone, tested by illness: “I’m fed up, I’m going to give up”
His friend Guillaume de Tonquédec was also surprised by his attention to others even though he was experiencing the worst hours of his life. “When I saw him on Monday, he told me: ‘I’m fed up, I’m going to give up’, but he asked me questions about my mother, he asked me where I was with my show… He was talking about others and he took care of others“, was surprised by the actor who had met him on the set of the series Don’t do this, don’t do that.
He also revealed that Bruno Salomone and his long-time partner, Audrey, had gotten married at the hospital: “He asked for her hand in her hospital bed, shocking“. Shortly after, the actor died in his house on Fanac Island, in Joinville-le-Pont, in Val-de-Marne, alongside his wife.
