So that means that when you have taken 20 grams, it is 25 calories.” A sauce which nevertheless remains often associated with sandwiches or barbecues, while it can also replace much richer seasonings on a daily basis. In addition to these figures which speak for themselves, Jean-Michel Cohen therefore advises favoring products which provide taste without multiplying unnecessary calories, in particular those from fat.
Indeed, classic industrial sauces, often rich in oils, sugars or additives, can easily exceed 300 or 400 calories per 100 grams, or three times more than that recommended by Jean-Michel Cohen. It also offers several variants such as whole-grain, mild or Anglo-Saxon-inspired mustard.
