The General Secretary, the Directors and Managers of the CEI Offices and Services, together with all the staff of the General Secretariat, send their most sincere wishes to Father Marco Vianelli, elected Provincial Minister by the Chapter of the Seraphic Province of Umbria and Sardinia, gathered in Assisi. «We express this to Father Marco» says Monsignor Giuseppe Baturi «great gratitude for the shared ministry at the service of family pastoral care and for the work carried out with passion and competence. We are sure that in this new challenging role that he is preparing to experience will be able, inspired by the teaching of Saint Francis, to bear witness to the beauty of encounter, brotherhood and peace. We accompany him with prayers, certain that there will be no lack of support and collaboration in the years to come.”
Born in Venice in 1966, Father Vianelli was ordained a priest in 1998. After his theological studies at the Theological Institute of Assisi, he obtained a licentiate in canon law from the Pontifical Antonianum University. Since 2005 he has been employed as a Judge at the Umbrian Ecclesiastical Court and since 2021 he has been Judicial Vicar of the Diocese of Assisi-Nocera Umbra-Gualdo Tadino. His ministry was initially rooted in Umbria, as a trainer of young friars and parish priest of the community of Santa Maria degli Angeli (from 2012 to 2019). He was an Ecclesiastical Assistant in the Training Camps for AGESCI Leaders from 1998 to 2011, from 2008 to 2011 he was National Secretary for training and studies of the Conference of Ministers of the Order of Friars Minor of Italy, and later obtained the titles of Mediator and Family Consultant.
In 2019 he was appointed Director of the National Office for the Pastoral Care of the Family of the CEIpromoting initiatives dedicated to preparation for marriage, the accompaniment of couples and the support of wounded families, in particular by implementing the indications of the Exhortation Amoris laetitia.
