To lift her face, Kate Middleton uses a very specific makeup technique. And no, it doesn’t require foundation or adding substance. Explanation.
Kate Middleton is an inspiration in many ways: her always immaculate style, her impeccable hair or even her fresh makeup. So obviously when information behind the scenes is revealed, we listen with pleasure. Whether it’s her favorite serum or the mascara responsible for her doe-eyed look, every detail is intriguing. More recently, it is a makeup technique that the press has revealed, and not just any technique: a way of applying blush for a lifted face and a radiant complexion.
It was during a public appearance by the Princess of Wales at the St. Patrick’s Day parade that Internet users spotted the trick. Forget traditional makeup and blush applied to the rounded cheeks, which can make the features heavier. Kate Middleton opts for a strategic placement: very high along the cheekbones, stretching it towards the temples. Popularized on social networks, this method is called “blush lift”. This is a lighter and modernized version of blush draping, a technique that we saw a lot in the 70s.
The blush lift gives the illusion of a more defined bone structure, an upward-stretched look and a curved face. All without resorting to more complicated tricks like contouring, which overloads makeup. The result is fresh, natural, and brings real radiance. The cheeks are enhanced.
To perform this technique, nothing could be simpler. On TikTok, a user (@melisekrem) showed the exact gesture to achieve a blush lift in just a few seconds. Simply form an L with your thumb and index finger. We then place the thumb at the inner corner of the eye and follow the line of the index finger to place the blush. And there you have it, that’s it!
Our pro tip: use a cream or liquid blush, rather than a powder. These do not mark dryness, nor wrinkles and fine lines. On the contrary, they give the skin a plumped side, more hydration and do not freeze the features, particularly for mature skin. Although they may seem complicated to work with, once you master the gesture, you can’t do without them.
