A short but strong message that comes fromAngelus recited today by Pope Leo XIV, after the intense pastoral visit to Pavia and Sant’Angelo Lodigiano.
In the first part he recalled that even today, as in the past, Christians are persecuted, but they must not lose hope or be overcome by fear. In a world torn by violence and war, they have the task of courageously bearing witness to peace. There is a lot of hostility towards Christians, the challenge is to persevere by responding to hatred with love. Especially where the Christian message is not understood or accepted.
In the second part of the Angelus the Pontiff instead recalled the World Refugee Day which was celebrated yesterday. We can’t look the other way, pretend the problem doesn’t exist, because they are trafficking in men and women who have the dignity and rights of every person. Everyone in their role must work to ensure that reception policies are implemented
