Start-ups are spoiled for choice when it comes to financing. Between grants, bank loans and equity financing, there is something for everyone. In traditional fundraising, the use of venture capital and business angel funds remains favored, but more and more start-ups are opting for participatory capital financing (“crowdequity”). In 2023, 267.2 million euros were collected in this way in France, compared to 150 million in 2022, an increase of 80% over one year, according to the annual barometer of Financement Participatif France.
Mon Petit Placement and the horse racing application Eqwin are trying this route and opened their capital to the general public on April 17. Their motivation? Not really the money but the commitment of their community. The fintech already has full coffers since it raised 6.5 million euros a few months ago from La France Mutualiste and its historic investors.
