It is not just a story of wine, but a human and social journey that spans a quarter of a century. Borgo La Cacciaa wine-growing reality linked to the social cooperative Lautari of Pozzolengoin the Brescia area, celebrated at Vinitaly its 25 years of activity. An important milestone that tells of a model in which production quality goes hand in hand with inclusion, recovery and the dignity of work.
Born as a social project dedicated to the reintegration of people with fragility and dependency paths, the cellar has been able to grow over the years without ever losing its original identity. «We were born with a social project and from the beginning we focused on quality», he underlines Andrea Bonomelli, president of the cooperative, recalling how the initial challenge was precisely to demonstrate that inclusion and excellence are not separate worlds, but can strengthen each other.
In this sense, the work in the vineyard and in the cellar becomes part of a broader journey. Not only production, but also training, responsibility, personal growth. The people involved in the project are at the center of an experience that combines work, educational support and social inclusion. An approach that restores value to the agricultural gesture and daily toil, transforming them into an opportunity for redemption.
Alongside the social dimension, over the years a production path has developed that is increasingly oriented towards quality and territorial identity. The choice to focus decisively on Lugana marked a decisive turning point. «We started with red, but today we specialize in Lugana, with the aim of making the most of the territory», is the synthesis of an evolution that has allowed the winery to take root even more deeply in the vocation of the area.
Collaboration with the winemaker was fundamental in this process Stefano Chioccioli, which accompanied the technical growth of the company. A research work that has led to different experiments – from amphora to wood, up to cocciopesto – with the aim of interpreting the vine in ever new forms, without betraying its identity. It all starts from the vineyard, from manual care and careful harvesting, in which the quality of the grapes becomes the first gesture of respect towards the final product.
But behind the techniques and innovations, a central vision remains: that of a wine that comes from a territory and a community. A wine that is not just a commercial expression, but the story of a human landscape even before an agricultural one.
Vinitaly, in this context, represents not only an international showcase, but also an opportunity for reflection. At a time marked by economic uncertainties and changes in consumption – with a growth in whites and a decline in reds – Borgo La Caccia looks to the future with pragmatism and openness to foreign markets, without forgetting its roots.
Alongside the challenges of the global market, new experiments are also emerging, such as the interest in products with low or no alcohol content, a sign of a sector in transformation. However, for the cooperative, the heart of the project remains elsewhere: in the person, in shared work, in the possibility of offering a second opportunity.
Experiences like that of Borgo La Caccia they remind us that the company can also be a place of care, relationships and rebirth. Not an alternative to the market, but its possible humanization.
25 years after its birth, this reality presents itself as a concrete example of an integrated economy, where production and solidarity are not exclusive, but mutually support each other. A model that also challenges the world of wine and, more generally, that of business: is it possible to combine competitiveness and attention to the person? The answer here seems to be already written in the facts.
This is how it comes from Vinitaly not just the celebration of an anniversary, but the relaunch of a vision.
