The United States always gives us the opportunity to talk and write about them. Lately, however, the popularity index of the Stars and Stripes nation has been hitting an all-time low. Between the statements of its president, the actions in the Middle East and the events related to ICE, the opposite would probably be strange. Today, however, they give us the opportunity to talk about an initiative that warms the heart.
Dan Simpson He lives in Idaho where he works as a delivery driver. Being 70 years old, he is close to retirement. His story is intertwined with that of Brian Wilsonwho decides to order a pizza from the well-known chain Domino’s. Together with the pizza he does not deprive himself of a cold drink and adds a Diet Coke at his order. Dan Simpson notices that the drink is missing while he goes to deliver the food to Wilson, so he decides to stop and buy it to make the customer happy. Once he arrived at the client’s home, he told what had happened, without knowing, however, that he was being filmed by a security camera posted near the entrance of the house. Wilson was extremely impressed by the gesture and words of the elderly rider, who told him that he was close to retirement after 14 years of working for the chain.
Taken by admiration and struck by Simpson’s gesture, the customer decided to open a fundraiser via the GoFundMe platform.

In the description of the fundraiser he explained the reasons behind this decision: «Last night, a very simple thing turned into something really special, and we can’t stop thinking about it. On a busy Friday night, we ordered dinner from Domino’s, along with a Diet Coke. While we waited, we received a voicemail from our delivery man, Dan, advising us that they were out of Diet Coke… but that he would happily bring us something else if we let him know what we wanted. We tried to call the place back, but it had already left for deliveries. No big deal, we figured we would accept whatever replacement came with the order. But when Dan arrived, he surprised us. He apologized again for the inconvenience and then told us…that he had personally stopped at a store to buy Diet Coke for us. We were honestly speechless. Such a level of thoughtfulness and kindness is rare these days. We would have liked to give him a higher tip, but we didn’t have cash on hand. We told him we would call the place to leave a rave review and that we would return to bring him a cash tip. That’s when Dan shared something that made this moment even more meaningful: He’s been working at Domino’s as a second job for 14 years… and he’s retiring in a few weeks.
On TikTok they loved Dan’s story and suggested we join together to give him the send-off he deserves. If a small act of kindness can have such an impact on us, imagine what an entire community can do for it. Let’s show Dan that his kindness hasn’t gone unnoticed. Let’s help him start retirement feeling appreciated, supported and celebrated. Every little contribution helps and, even if you can’t donate, sharing this story means just as much.”
Currently, fundraising has already reached almost 170 thousand dollars. This story shows us how being kind and helpful to others always pays off, and that people’s good deeds, in addition to being good for the heart, can really change lives.
