Only the title is still known. And the theme. Magnifica Humanitas, Pope Leo’s encyclical, reflects “on the protection of the human person in the time of artificial intelligence”. Signed on 15 May, on the 135th anniversary of the promulgation of the Encyclical Letter Rerum Novarum by Pope Leo XIII, it is presented at 11.30 am, in the Synod Hall, in the presence of the Pontiff. This is the first time that an encyclical is presented directly in the presence of the Pope. Among the speakers are Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Michael Czerny SJ, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development; Professor Anna Rowlands who deals with political theology and, in particular, with the Social Doctrine of the Church, and theological ethics of human migration, at the Department of Theology and Religion of Durham University, United Kingdom;
Christopher Olah, co-founder of Anthropic (USA) and responsible for research on the interpretability of artificial intelligence; Professor Leocadie Lushombo it, Political Theology and Catholic Social Thought at Jesuit School of Theology / Santa Clara University, California.
The promulgation of the encyclical takes place a few days after the establishment of an interdicasterial commission on artificial intelligence.
