With 127 medals to her credit, Laure Manaudou is one of the greatest sportswomen in our country. While she retired from swimming in 2013, she has since learned another profession far from swimming and the media…
Since retiring from sports, Laure Manaudou has not been idle: having become a consultant for France Télévisions, she also regularly participates as a candidate in various shows, notably Dancing with the stars this season, on TF1. But, in parallel with her career in the media, she also trained in another profession. And the salary is not amazing…
Laure Manaudou: what is she doing today?
While she lives in a house near the Arcachon basin, Laure Manaudou only goes to Paris when she has to participate in the filming of shows or take part in campaigns for the brands with which she happens to collaborate. But the former Olympic swimmer, now aged 39, compensates for these more uncertain professional periods with real training on the side. In fact, she trained as a kinesiologist.
“I am passionate about mental health, psychology, and understanding what leads us to take certain life paths. I met a kinesiologist in a women’s circle when I was pregnant (she is the mother of three children: Manon, 16 years old, born from her relationship with Frédérick Bousquet as well as Lou, 8 years old and Sacha, 5 years old, born from her past marriage to Jérémy Frérot, editor’s note). I did a session with her and decided to follow the training for two years. It allowed me to understand a lot of things about myself“, she confided in the pages of Gala.
What is this job and how much does it pay?
This profession that Laure Manaudou learned is still relatively unknown to the general public. “Kinesiology aims to optimize overall well-being, activate the client’s personal resources so that they regain their homeostasis, their autonomy and their capacity for choice. It does not claim to cure illnesses but complements other medical, paramedical and well-being approaches. The kinesiologist does not make a diagnosis or issue a prescription.“, specifies the National Union of Kinesiologists.
In terms of salary, beginnings in the profession are generally very modest. Indeed, according to the Academy of Kinesiology, the salary for a “beginner employee ranges from 1,200 to 2,000 € net/mes”. It is obviously much less remunerative than participation on the floor of DALS but there is no doubt that Laure Manaudou is thriving and that’s all that matters.
